Being a working mom, the work-life balance is something I struggle with. Don't we all?!? Is it really fair to only spend 2 hours a day with my sweet daughter? But I love my career. And she loves school. And I know it is right for us right now. The best compromise I can rationalize is trying to make the most of the time we have together during the week.
Tonight Kirk had to work late. We have been wiped out from moving and unpacking boxes while working full time. So I caved and picked up dinner at McDonalds. We brought it home, spread out a blanket and had a frontyard picnic. Just the two of us. I loved talking to Connor and hearing about her day. She always tells us everything she learned, who she played with, and recites books they read during the day. Our Connor has a lot to say. And she always wants to be heard! I couldn't resist snapping a few photos of Connor the way I picked her up from school today. They were out on the playground. I am not sure what Connor was doing, but whatever it was obviously involved smearing dirt on her face. A mark of a day well-played! Have you ever?!?
Oh those hands. Getting clean was of upmost importance.
Our little picnic was the best. I kicked off my heels and didn't even take the time to change out of my work clothes. We are happy to be back in our home. Here are a few shots of our cozy surroundings.
After dinner came bath time...
...And a little pre-bed dress up. Our little Snow White practice her "Mirror Mirror on the Walls" at her dressing table....
And also while brushing teeth in her bathroom.
Please don't let time go by any faster than it is. I want to always been able to breathe in Fall with mother/daughter weeknight picnics! I may only get 2 hours a day - but they are going to be the best 2 hours I can make them!
