South Carolina View

This past weekend we were lucky enough to vacation on the Isle of Palms in South Carolina. Honestly - after seeing all the wonders of Europe - I don't know that there are many as breathtaking as driving over the bridges from Charleston and above the marshes to the Isle of Palms. It is the place of much history. It is the place of The Prince of Tides. It is golden and green. It is calm and exhilarating all wrapped into one. It is God's country. My mother-in-law has dreamed for years of buying a place here. I used to be perplexed by the obsession, but honestly the more I am there the more I understand the thrill and intoxication of being so near the culture of Charleston, the resort amenities of Wild Dunes, and the utter relaxation of the beach.
We had a great time doing so much and yet so little. Yummy beach meals, bottles of sunscreen, ice cream cones, long afternoon naps, shag lessons, sand castles, bicycling around the island, beach grocery stores, outdoor showers, sandy feet, doing your own thing, beach towels drying in the sun, flying kites, playing games, and just hanging out with each other. I loved waking up and putting on our suits ready for whatever fun in the sun the day would bring. We had a blast. All 10 of us!
